Ancient derelict English Oak (Quercus Robur) in the grounds of Castle Howard, York

One of several venerable English Oaks near the public car park at Castle Howard. Very old, but grimly clinging to life. 800 years old, maybe? There are many other fine trees on the estate, so it's well worth a visit even if baroque castles don't take your fancy and you're not a fan of Brideshead Revisited. (The castle was used in the famous ITV production of Evelyn Waugh's book, as Brideshead, the ancestral home of the Flyte family.)
