Magnificent Camperdown Elm (Ulmus glabra 'Camperdownii') at Forsyth House, Cromarty, ScotlandThis is one of two Camperdown Elms in Cromarty, and the larger of the two by quite some way. It's in the front garden of Forsyth House, one of the best examples of a fine 19th Century merchants house to be found in Cromarty, itself a very well-preserved 18th and 19th Century town. The Elm is just coming into bud, and I'll add another shot in the coming weeks when the burgeoning foliage is matched by the carpet of Celandine which grows beneath the tree. See
picture #20 for a photo of Cromarty's other Camperdown Elm.
